RUGBY 2010 | S.THOMAS' COLLEGE v ISIPATHANA COLLEGE
After being unbeaten for the past two weeks, STC fell back for the first time in the season by loosing to last years Milo Presidents Trophy runners up Isipathana College in the 3rd match of the season worked off at the STC grounds on the 8th of May.
It was Isipathana College winger Sooriyabandara who started the scoring for the day with a try and got Isipathana College on the lead 5-nil minutes after the match started. With the start given, the Pathanians kepts scoring on with penalties and tries and kept the lead increasing while STC was yet to open their score card. It was when Isipathana College were leading 20-nil, that STC prop forward Sanjiv Ahangama scored with a try and was successfully converted by fly half Thishan Wickramasinghe. Isipathana College then went on to score 10 more points with a penalty and a try successfully converted to increase the lead to 30-7 when the half time whistle was blown.
The 2nd half of the match was a completely one sided match for STC with Isipathana College not being able to increase their score untill the end of play whistle was blown. Defenses of both teams were unpenetratable untill hooker Anjula de Silva scored for STC with a try and brought up the scores of STC to 12 points. Minutes later, the moment of the match was witnessed by those present when center Anuruddha Willewera dashed through the opposition from the center line with the Pathanians being unsuccessful to bring him down and scored for STC with a try which was then successfully converted to update the scoreboard to 19-30 with the Pathanians still leading. Minutes later, skipper of STC and No.8 Rajindra Gunasekara scored again for STC with a try and the scores where thus updated to 24-30 with Isipathana College leading. The Thomians fought hard to score more points yet were unsuccessfull with the whistle being blown by the refree Mr.Irshad Cader giving Isipathana College their first victory in the season.
The junior games that were worked off before the match started were all won by STC.

STC are to play their first game away from home with friendly rivals Trinity College Kandy on the 15th of May 2010 at the Pallekale grounds.
