RUGBY 2010 | S.THOMAS' COLLEGE v PRINCE OF WALES COLLEGE

After a thrilling match last weekend, the boys from Mount Lavinia were able to score their highest score of the season this week against table tailenders Prince of Wales College at the game worked out at the STC Grounds on the 21st of May 2010.

Thomians going into the game being the favourites were able to keep the momentum going while scoring every few minutes while the boys from Moratuwa were left helpless. Thomians began scoring right from the start of the match. The Cambrians were only able to score through a penalty in the first half. At half time, the score board was reading 53-3 in favour of STC.

The second half was even more eventful as the Mount Lavinia boys dashed through the Prince of Wales defences every now and then to keep the scorer in the scoreboard busy while yet again, the Cambrians could not get past the Thomian defence to score.

Thomians managed to make 16 tries and 9 of them were successfully converted. Anuruddha Willwera was at his best scoring 6 of the 16 ties while number eight player Sudharshana Muthutantri made 5 tries. Former skipper Shaveen Kapuwatte, Thishan Wickramasinghe, Shehan Thahir, Devin Illeppeli, and Avendra Dharmadasa scored for STC through a try each. All 9 successfull conversions were done by Devin Jayasinghe.

With this game being played and won, STC have played their 5th match of the season and have won their fourth game. STC are yet to play 4 more games against Dharmaraja College, St.Peters College, Kingswood College and the Royal Thomian match against Royal College.

STC will play their second game away from home next weekend at the Bogambara grounds on the 29th of May 2010 against Dharmaraja College.
