RUGBY 2010 | S.THOMAS' COLLEGE v St. ANTHONEY'S COLLEGE
The 2nd match of the season for STC as well as the second home match for STC was played off on the 30th of April 2010 at the STC Big Vlub Grounds. STC recorded their second consecutive victory in the season by defeating St.Anthoney's College Katugastota 15-12. Center Anuruddha Willawara got the first points for STC on the board with a try which Fly Half Thishan Wickramasinge converted to give STC a lead of 7-nil. A few minutes later, the Antonians scored with a similar performance to level the scores. Willawara once again got STC on the lead with a try after which the scoreboard read 12-07 which the visitors once again equaled it and the scores were leveled once again 12-12 when Half Time was called.
It was in the second half of the game that the battle started with both teams trying their very best to score but were unable to break the defenses of the opposition. After it was obvious that the game would be going into extra time, it was Fly Half Thishan Wickramasinghe who gave STC the lead of 15-12 once again which was followed by the whistle a few minutes later giving STC their second win in the season.
The match was followed with a dinner hosted by the Old Thomians Rugby Football Union where both team members and officials as well as other distinguished invitees attended.
