RUGBY 2010 | S.THOMAS' COLLEGE v WESLEY COLLEGE
The match was played on the 24th of April 2010 at the STC Big Club Grounds. STC kicked off their season with a thrilling victory by defeating the visitors 29-05. Wesley College, the new entrants into the A division league, put up an impressive performance by not allowing the Home team to score till Half Time was called and were leading 5-nil untill just after half time, when Centre Anuruddha Willawara scored the first few points for STC with a Try. It was Thishan Wickramasinghe who kicked the ball through the goal post to give the Home team a lead of 7-5. Thomian Winger Udara Pathum touched down few minutes later to take the Thomian lead to 12-5 and then Former skipper Shavin Kapuwatte touched down again to increase the lead to 17-5. It was Center player Anuruddha Willawara who sealed the victory for STC with two more Tries inceasing the lead to 29-5 when the whistle was blown to end the match thus giving S.Thomas' College the first victory in the first match of the 2010 season.
Also impressive performances were shown by the junior teams of STC who also won against Wesly College in their respective matches. In the Under 14 match, STC won 75-nil and and the Under 16 match, STC won 05-nil.
